Will Muschamp says he wasn’t involved enough on offense at Florida

Some folks might say Will Muschamp was too involved offensively at Florida.

That might explain why the Gators struggled moving the ball and scoring points during his final two seasons there.

Anyway, Auburn’s new defensive coordinator said he “should have been’ more involved in the offense at Florida, which 12th in the SEC in total offense and 13th in offensive plays in 2014.

“I was very involved defensively at Florida and regardless of popular opinion I wasn’t as much on offense,” he told reporters on Thursday. “Should have been, but I wasn’t.”

Gus Malzahn hired Muschamp — Auburn’s third defensive coordinator in four years — to fix a defense that gave up 31 points or more in its final seven SEC games last season.
